End-of-Year Small Business Checklist

The end of the year is right around the corner, have you done the appropriate actions to make sure the transition into the new year is smooth?

The end of the year brings opportunity for real change–that is if you are willing to put the work in. Seeing as you built your own business from scratch, we bet you are up for the challenge. Doing these end of the year updates can save you from a major headache when the new year comes rolling in. But more importantly, this is the time of year when your business needs your attention, especially in the areas of IT, accounting, and general business administrative tasks. Here are a few tasks you need to do before the end of the year. IT (Information Technology)
  • Back Up Your Data – Make sure that all of your files, documents, and important emails are backed up and secure. A hard drive or a secure cloud network are good options.
  • Back Up Your Contacts – You want to make sure that you have multiple copies of your contacts. Have them stored to ensure you can recover them if your primary network goes down.
Accounting
  • Verify Your Vendors – Take a look at all of the vendors in your system and make sure that their phone number, email, and address are still the same and update the information if they have changed.
  • Check Payroll and Benefits – You have to make sure that all of the numbers in your books are perfect. If they are not, you can expect a call from your good friends at the IRS.
